Welcome to the Family

There aren’t many Hollistons in the world, at least in comparison to Smith, Johnson, or Williams. Google for “Holliston”, and almost all the hits you get back point to the town in Massachusetts instead of the surname. I’d like to say that the town is named after some semi-famous ancestor, but it’s not the case; it was named after a chap whose last name “Hollis” had the “ton” (for town) attached at the end. No, if you want the this history of my family, you need to look for “Houliston” instead. Fairly typical of immigrants in the 19th century, one of my ancestors decided to fit in a bit better and change a letter or two around. So here we are.

This site is a catch-all for information of all sorts about my specific family living in Oregon. You might find a tidbit here and there concerning other people in all our families, but most of it concerns those living in our house.

It seems like everyone had a web site back in the 90’s, and now everyone has blogs. Maybe I can do a tiny little bit to bring something a little more permanent and far reaching than a blog back into the mainstream. Enjoy your browsing here, absolutely do not take us too seriously, and most of all, have fun!
